Thematical Spatial Data by Using the Third Dimension

In this paper we examine the visualisation of multiple variables in thematic maps by using the third dimension. Three cases illustrate the potentials and limitations for three-dimensional visualisations of multivariate datasets. After examining these examples, we reflect what should be considered carefully when creating this kind of maps.
